HUNGER STRIKE DAY 3 (7/30): Labor Leaders Demand Speaker Menin Submit Int. 303 Now!
Today, labor leaders, union members, retiree organizations, workers’ centers, and labor coalition activists converged on the steps of City Hall to call for the abolition of the 24-hour workday, demanding that Speaker Julie Menin keep her promise and allow a vote on New York City Council original Intro 303, the No More 24 Act. 
Home care workers continue to endure conditions that no other sector of the labor movement would tolerate. Yet, Speaker Menin has proposed that the protections of the No More 24 Act be denied to any worker who is unionized. 
Tomorrow’s (Jul 31) program begins at 12pm and will be a Disability Justice for NoMore24 press conference. Formed by disabled people and allies who demand an end to the 24 hr workday, the Disability Justice for NoMore24 will call out Speaker Menin for torturing workers and endangering disabled people:
Saturday (Aug 2) at noon communities will organize music to support hunger strikers at City Hall.
Sunday’s (Aug 2) large rally at noon will be centered on working women protesting Speaker Menin for both continuing the sexist and racist 24-hr workdays and unabashedly spitting on care work and caregivers:
